A vest with a deep neckline has almost nothing holding it together, which is why the structural panelling on Nadine is the engineering of the whole piece. The pants sit high and run wide, so the two halves meet at one line instead of fighting over the middle.

Structural panelling. Seams that shape the vest rather than simply joining it, which is what keeps a deep neckline from collapsing inward.

Deep V neckline. Cut low at the front, which is the reason the panelling behind it has to be right.

High-waisted pants. The waistband sits at the natural line, so the vest ends where the trousers begin instead of overlapping.

Wide-leg drape. The leg runs wide from the hip down, which is what balances a fitted top half.
