Gerda | Checked Lined Cardigan

A lined cardigan is not really a cardigan any more.

It is closer to a light jacket, and Gerda behaves like one — a check running through the body, a full lining behind it, and a drape that goes over a dress as easily as over jeans.

Full lining. It holds heat the way an unlined knit never manages, and does it without adding weight.

Check pattern. Runs through the whole body rather than sitting as a panel across the front.

Draped open front. It falls open and stays open, so it layers instead of buttoning shut over everything.

Easy on. Goes over a top or a dress without catching anywhere on the way.

This is the layer for the fortnight when a coat is too much and a jumper is not enough. That fortnight comes around twice a year.
