A collar, a placket and a waist — the shirt kept all three.

Alva takes the parts of a shirt that were never decorative in the first place: a proper collar, buttons the full way down, and a waist that cinches. The skirt below it sweeps, which is the only part a shirt would not recognise.

Full-length button placket. Buttons all the way down, which is what makes it a shirt dress rather than a dress with a collar attached.

Traditional collar. Cut like a shirt collar and not a decorative version of one, so it holds its shape rather than lying flat.

Cinched waist. It draws in through the middle, which is what stops a full placket from reading as a long shirt.

Breathable and sweeping. A wide skirt that moves as you walk, built for the days the temperature is the deciding factor.
